Witnessing....

A Pastor friend shared the humorous story of a guy who prayed this prayer every morning:

"Lord, if you want me to witness to someone today, please give me a sign to show me who it is." One day he found himself on a bus when a big, burly man sat next to him. The bus was nearly empty but this guy sat next to our praying friend. The timid Christian anxiously waited for his stop so he could exit the bus. But before he could get very nervous about the man next to him, the big guy burst into tears and began to weep. He then cried out with a loud voice, "I need to be saved. I’m a lost sinner and I need the Lord. Won’t somebody tell me how to be saved?" He turned to the Christian and pleaded, "Can you show me how to be saved?" The believer immediately bowed his head and prayed, "Lord, is this a sign?"

Are you looking for a "sign" to start witnessing?

Love... who?

"If a man say, I love God, and hateth his
brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath
seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?"

People say it all the time. I love my husband, I love my wife. I love my mother. I love my sister. But then you see how they treat that person that they love, you wonder if they do, indeed, love them. You see them go to church and get blessed of God, then leave and treat that person that they love so horribly. How can they get so blessed and leave and be the same as they walked in? It all goes back to love. 1 Corinthians 13 is the love chapter. If you want to know how to love, then that is where you need to look.

4 "Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,"
5 "Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;"
6 "Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;"
7 "Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things."

If you aren't loving this way, then it isn't love. 1 Cor. 13:1-3 says it doesn't matter if we come to church and get blessed of God, without love, it is like a tinkling cymbal. It doesn't matter if we used in the gift of prophecy, without love, we are nothing. It doesn't matter if we give to the poor, without love, it doesn't do us any good.

For years I couldn't wrap my head around why people are the way they are, but now I see it. There is no love. Love is important. It is even more important than faith. The scripture says that if you have faith to move mountains, without love, we are nothing (1 Cor. 13:2).

Today I pray that God will fill your heart and mine with love for our fellow man, whether it be family, neighbors, or friends. God help me to love like you.
